This year’s past results
Brunei DPMM FC 4-0 Tanjong Pagar Utd
Tanjong Pagar Utd 0-2 Brunei DPMM FC (SLC)

We have reached the final game of the regular S.League season and tonight, league leaders Brunei DPMM FC make their way here to Queenstown Stadium in a bid to further cement their position atop the table before Round 2.5 kicks off.

DPMM FC has gone unbeaten since June and it certainly does look unlikely that they will falter against the Jaguars. Apart from that, the Jaguars have already lost twice to the Bruneian Wasps this season, the last being a 2-0 defeat in the Starhub League Cup Final.

It must be noted though that the Jaguars may not have the best of results this year but the high performance have been very consistent with but the odd game here and there where it can be argued that the Jaguars did not perform well.

Not once can it be truly said that the Jaguars were completely outplayed by any team in the league and that is what make the lads a dangerous equation to reckon with. The run to the Starhub League Cup final bore witness to that fact and clearly other factors have always hampered the Jaguars’ ability to win this season, some of which are totally beyond control.

So here we come now to face the Wasps one last time and if anything at all, the pain of the League Cup final will want to be erased and avenged.

The rabid and always energetic Duracell-run Sazali Salleh will be suspended for this match but there is still enough mettle and strength in the team to cope. Tengku Mushadad, our very own Russian tank in midfield, though made in Singapore, is unbeatable on his day and there are also the likes of Anthony Aymard, Hafiz Osman and Hanafi Salleh still to reckon with.

Kamel Ramdani and Monsef Zerka are free from their suspensions and should feature if nothing gets in the way. Captain Ahmad Latiff has been inspirational upfront and he, among others, will definitely want a better result this time round.

DPMM FC has improved tremendously under Head Coach Steve Kean, a beloved crowd favourite over at Blackburn, and they are on course to win the Singapore treble. Last time out, Adi Said scored the second goal and he will definitely need to be watched again.

Roy O’Donovan is always dangerous and is one of the main reasons for the Wasp’s sudden immense strength. That is one player who believes he is the best player in the S.League and while it is arguable, his contribution to his team cannot be disputed.

Come on down to Queenstown Stadium tonight and witness a definite thriller tonight as one team fights for respect and the other, for a step closer to the crown. The Jaguars will definitely not play the role of kingmakers tonight.

See you there!
