A strong defensive partnership displayed between skipper Hafiz Osman and Tengku Mushadad proved to be a crucial factor that contributed to the match outcome. The central defensive pair accounted for a total of 21 interceptions and 26 balls recovered. Hafiz himself won 10 challenges and 12 interceptions in the game.

The solid defense provided the Jaguars front line more confidence in attack which resulted in nine shots on target compared to just two shots from Tampines. The Jaguars could have secured three points if not for some debatable decisions from the linesman in the dying minutes.

The game also saw Ruzaini Zainal pushed forward to his preferred attacking position with Hanafi Salleh covering the left flank. The deployment saw Ruzaini got involved with the Jaguars’ attack several times in the first half and saw him register three attempts on goal.

Sebastien Etiemble and Firdaus Idros were as usual the focal point of attack and they both contributed to 78 attacking plays in the game. They accounted for 37 and 28 passes completed respectively for the entire game.
