Coming off the back of a controversial defeat against Balestier Khalsa in the previous fixture, the Jaguars had nothing in mind but redeeming themselves in the game against Woodlands.

It was the first time this season that Patrick Vallée had a selection headache with most of the key players returning to the squad. The timing could not be better with Woodlands not having the best times of their season at that period.

A shuffle in players positions saw Hanafi Salleh and Anthony Aymard pushed up to defensive midfield and Sazali Salleh playing in the hole just behind Monsef Zerka. Firdaus Idros’s absence saw Sebastién Etiemble pushed out to the right and Kamel Ramdani taking the left wing.

The shuffle saw positive outcome as Hanafi and Aymard patrolled and held the midfield well, allowing Sazali to focus on helping out with attack.

Aurelién Hérisson also put in a confident display, shutting out all Woodlands attacks.

The first goal came in the 60th minute when Zerka pounced on some poor clearance from the Rams defence and blasted his shot into the top right corner of Yazid Yasin’s goal. Hafiz Osman sealed the winner with a diving header from Etiemble’s cross in the 80th minute, concluding a strong and confident team performance.
