A confident display in all departments earned the Jaguars a well deserved 4-0 victory over Albirex Niigata (S) on Monday.

With a change in the back four, Hafiz Osman saw himself partnering Hanafi Salleh in central defense with Zahid Ahmad and Nor Azli Yusoff covering both flanks. Hafiz in particular displayed a strong performance in the backline earning 12 interceptions and recovering 14 balls in the Jaguars half. Alongside Hafiz, Hanafi also put in a commendable display by recovering 8 balls from opponents.

Nor Azli Yusoff, while not recovering or intercepting as many as his colleagues saw a good amount of contribution to the Jaguars goals. The penalty earned after Ahmad Latiff was brought down in the Albirex box was a result of a good play forward from Nor Azli, which caught the Albirex backline off guard, In total, Nor Azli completed 78% of his passes in the entire game.

In addition to scoring goals and making assists, Latiff and Monsef Zerka also defended from the front with a total of 26 challenges won by both of them.

A tidy performance by Tengku Mushadad in midfield was also an important factor which contributed to the team’s win. Tengku completed 86% of his passes and had a 100% pass completion rate in his non-offensive pass count, which helped kept things tidy in midfield for the team.

Offensively, Tengku managed two attempts on goal, one of which was on target while another despite being off target, was from a beautiful free-kick which beat the goalkeeper but struck the crossbar.
