It was the first time since 2013 that Patrick Vallée could afford to deploy Ahmad Latiff in his natural attacking position.

With only Chua Lye Heng (Goalkeeper Coach/Player) and Justin Khiang not selected for the matchday squad, the Jaguars Anthony Aymard, Asraf Rashid, Firdaus Idros and Ruzaini Zainal starting from the bench.

Deployed ‘in-the-hole’ just behind main striker Monsef Zerka in the 4-4-1-1 formation, Latiff was able to display his full array of natural attacking talent and abilities. And it turned out to be a match where he not only scored one goal, but earned a penalty and creating an assist for Etiemble’s second goal, the fourth for the Jaguars.

“It definitely feels good to score a goal after such a long time,” Latiff told tpufc.org. “For the past one and a half season I had to play defense because we had a high rate of injury count. Coach and I had spoke before about this and we understood each other.”

Latiff noted a healthier squad now also meant the team had more options on the pitch and that Vallée knows who performs best in which position.

“I may have scored a goal, but what matters is the team worked hard for each other and earned a deserved result.”
