Rain has finally embraced the island and the grass grows green and lush at Queenstown Stadium. Woodlands Wellington FC will come here this Friday to graze the grass but they will find that the Jaguars are extremely protective of our territory.
The Jaguars were unable to score at Toa Payoh last week and hence suffered an unfortunate one-goal setback despite having superior possession. Things may change tomorrow as the Northern Rams have not been able to beat us in the past three times we met and the Jaguars are primed to set our season alight again.
Captain Hafiz Osman have done well to marshall the defence in the absence of Anthony Aymard and he will definitely be up for it against the Rams at home. Sebastien Etiemble is slowly but surely adapting to the S.League and his exquisite touches will cause mayhem for any opponents. Monsef Zerka has yet to score this season but with his quality, it is only a matter of time.
While Ruzaini Zainal will be back from suspension, the Jaguars will still be missing a few key personnels. Masrezwan Masturi will be suspended and the talismanic Kamel Ramdani will still be out injured. He is joined in the stands by Zahid Ahmad and Anthony Aymard.
Woodlands Wellington FC have yet to lose in three matches and credit must be given to Darren Stewart who have turned the northern Rams into a formidable side. Yazid Yasin is a good goalkeeper by any given standards and his presence between the sticks have given the Woodlands defence much confidence.
Head Coach Patrick Vallee emphasizes that the team will need to have more accuracy in front of goal after two unfortunate defeats in a row despite enjoying domination over the opponents.
“Football wise, we have been playing well. At the end, we have only one win in 3 games but the most important for me is still to be true to our style of football and stay focused on the tasks at hand,” Vallee said. “We need more efficiency in defence and attack especially to rectify our lack of goals if possible.”
Vallee has also instructed his lads to maintain the strong mindset they have shown in all games this season even if the Jaguars are missing their key players.
“We must adapt and do our best. Most important for us is to progress from here on.”
It is most definitely time for the Jaguars to pick up the points in the league given the positive football we have been displaying and Queenstown Stadium provides the perfect venue for the Jaguars to roar back into the league.
See you there!
