Tanjong Pagar United is pleased to announce the signing of midfielder Firdaus Idros. The diminutive midfielder will officially join the club on 2 January 2014 and will don the number 12 jersey in the upcoming season.
The 28-year old has previously worked with Jaguars head coach Patrick Vallee in the 2013 edition of the Sultan Of Selangor’s Cup and is looking forward to the new season with the club.
“I am glad to be able to join Tanjong Pagar United F.C. (TPUFC) for the coming season. TPUFC is a historic club where the likes of Lim Tong Hai, Nicodeme Boucher and S Subramani won the 1998 Singapore Cup and FA Cup titles,” Firdaus told tpufc.org. “It was a hard decision for me to move on from Home United because I have been there for five years. But I know I made the right decision.”
Nicknamed ‘Quek’, Firdaus have won the 2011 and 2013 editions of the RHB Singapore Cup with Home United.
Usually deployed on the wings, Firdaus is known to have the habit of ghosting into the danger area and sneaking goals past unsuspecting opponents.
“I have worked once with coach Vallee during the SOS Cup in 2013 and it was a refreshing experience. I can’t wait to get started on training because I know that I will continue to improve under his guidance. Coach Vallee is a great motivator and his hardwork has payed off as TPUFC has risen above expectations in 2013 to finish in the top half as well as finalist in the RHB Singapore Cup. Kudos to him and hope for the coming season we will go one better.”
“I am also keen to get started in training with my new teammates. I have been teammates with some players and have also spoken to them. They have already made me feel welcomed at the club. Hopefully we will win something for the upcoming season.”
